Unfortunately, those Hubs don't serve the US very well. It looks like what happened is that once players figured out that replays only get saved if you play on an Epic Hub, people flocked to those Hubs. Since I run a Hub, I noticed a huge downturn in the US since the last build - probably the biggest downturn since I started running a Hub in February. The current build falls in the latter category to some degree. There are going to be ebbs and flows in player counts during development mostly due to changes that temporarily are a turn-off to players or other changes that have ancillary effects on player counts. If i were an dev on epic i would just donate summit & lirik 100bugs and telll them to play it hehe. At some point in this time, when you want an active game, you need twitch and steam in my opinion. You can tell the game isn't ready for something like Steam or a big audience yet because even people that try it now usually don't stick around actually playing for too long. I agree that Steam will be super important for getting a big audience, but not right now to be honest, screwing up the first impressions for many people is going to hurt the game more than benefiting it, like it did with some other early access titles on Steam. It needs a framework that will somehow support longevity for both casual and competitive players, all while stimulating competitive play (with the spectator system, interesting to watch gameplay, replay system, HUD settings, etc) as well to gain ground on Twitch. You can say yeah its on pre-alpha thats why nobody is playing it, but thats just not true.
